After continuous efforts, hard work, research and development for over 25 years, selection from KUTCHi lucerne, the 'Alamdar-51' perennial lucerne variety was developed which tolerates moisture stress and produces increased fodder.
'Alamdar-1' The leaves of 'Alamdar-1' lucerne are broad and oval shaped in contrast to other varieties. An extra amount of digestible protein is obtained as its tender stem contains more pulp, which results in the increment of quantity of milk and proportion of fat. In addition the health and wellbeing of cattle is maintained which result in reduced cost of milk production and cattle rearing.

This newly developed lucerne variety can be harvested after every 18 to 22 days. Farmers who are cultivating Alamdar Lucerne 51 are also worriless from the infestation of Cuscuta as the seeds are free from contamination of Cuscuta seeds.
The Seeds production of Alamdar-1 and Alamdar-51 is undertaken in GUJARAT state of India where the temperature varies from 10 C to 48 C, hence able to withstand varied agro-climatic conditions prevailing across the country. The high quality lucerne seed is produced under the strict supervision of qualified teams. The seed is produced in the participatory approach with the trust worthy and hard working farmers who take utmost care in maximising the quality seed production.
Lucerne being a leguminous crop hence adds atmospheric nitrogen in the soil. It can be grown in salt affected areas. When crop stubbles ploughed down in the soil and deep roots of the plant helps in soil aeration and improve water holding capacity of the soil. This allows the movement of air and moisture through the soil which improves the soils structure affecting its ability to hold the water.
Lucerne contributes significantly to crop land soil improvement, stabilizing soil, and increasing water infiltration. Its extensive, deep, fibrous taproot system decreases soil bulk density, improves soil structure, and reduces soil erosion.

Soil type: Prefer well drained sandy, sandy loam and medium black soils are quite suitable for lucerne cultivation.
Select the land having rich in organic matter, calcium, phosphorus and potash for higher forage production.
Soil preparation: After ploughing the field, add 15-20 metric ton Farm Yard Manure and 25.00 kg nitrogen per hectare of land. Apply 75.00 kg of phosphorous and 75.00 kg potash per hectare. Supply all the fertilizers as basal at the time of final tilling of the soil.
Seed rate: A rate of 25-30 kg seed per hectare is the optimum seed requirement of Alamdar Lucerne seed usually sown by broadcasting. the seed. However it is advisable to sow in rows at 30cm distance.
Sowing time: October to December is the most appropriate time for lucerne sowing. Sowing of lucerne on 10 to 20 November produces maximum forage production and net return.
Irrigation: Irrigated immediately after sowing the seeds and then after a week. After that regular irrigation at intervals of 8-10 days in summer and 10-15 days in winter is given and according to the season is recommended.
Weeding and inter-culturing: Regular weeding and inter-culturing operations should be practiced as and when required.
Harvesting: First harvesting of fodder is practiced after 45days. Second harvesting after a period of 25-30 days. There after subsequent harvestsed at regular intervals of 18-22 days.
Production: The annual production of green forage is 130-150 tonnes per hectare. The total Green forage yield of three years is 330-375 tonnes per hectare.
Care should be taken that there is no water logging in the lucerne field.
Apply irrigation as and when need arises which is usually 10-15 days in winter and 78-10 days in summer seasons.
Preference should be given that Lucerne is planted in the field where there was no Cuscuta infestation in the previous season.

Cluster bean Alamdar-110
Alamdar cluster bean is a non-branching single culm erect plant type variety highly suitable for the semi-arid tropic conditions. Pod bearing from the first initial inter-nodes and in bunches .Pods are long, green and smooth. Flowers begin at 30 days. First picking can be done at 40-45 days after sowing. Production can be obtained in summer and monsoon except in cold season. The average green pod production is 10-15 tonnes per hectare.
Soil: The Cluster beans perform well under a wide range of soil conditions as alluvial to clay and red soil which absorbs good amount of water.
Preparation of field: Prepare the land by ploughing the field 2-3 times having good pulverized soil.
Fertilizer: Apply 6-10 tons of farm yard manure at the time of land preparation. A dose of 25 kg nitrogen and 37.5 kg phosphorous and 37.5 kg potash should be given per hectare. All the fertilizer should be supplied prior to the final ploughing.
Sowing time: February to March and June to July are the best period months for sowing.
Planting distance: The distance between two lines should be 45 cm and 40 cm within a line vegetable purpose in monsoon season whereas for summer season, 60 X 20 cm distance maintained for maximum pod yield.
Seed rate: 10-12 kg of seeds per hectare for vegetable purpose.
Irrigation: Irrigation to the cluster bean field is applied at an interval of 7-10 days during summer and 10-15 days in winter in accordance with the climate and soil.
